DAY THIRTEEN
I took my first walk yesterday afternoon outside the room! The vote was unanimous, they want my room tomorrow. Actually my WBC is up to 15.0 and platelets holding at 66. I’m going home–well almost–out of the hospital and back to the hotel. I’ll be back to UNC on Friday morning for labs, but no extended stay. My umbilical cord from The Old Bag has been severed. I almost feel like a free man! Still fatigued and some nausea but I hear that’s par for the course. Looking forward to seeing the outside world….Gary

Gary, that is just wonderful! I can’t imagine how good it must feel to leave your room and to leave your Old Bag behind!
So good to hear your blood levels are where they should be and you can go back to the hotel!
Maggie just raved about what a beautiful place it is, so in spite of still not feeling good, it might help to be there.
Praying everything continues to improve and you will be home soon and enjoying coffee on your beautiful porch.
I guess the mask will go with you for awhile, but just so happy the stem cell therapy is working so well.
I know the nausea and fatique will go with you too for awhile, so just rest and relax and get well.
I wish I could be there to give you a big hug!
Will give you a call soon. Love, Sarah
